McHenry junior guard Ava Interrante’s 3-pointer with about three minutes to go in the fourth quarter gave the Warriors their first lead over Belvidere North in a 55-49 victory Tuesday at the Burlington Central Thanksgiving Tournament.
Down, 42-34, after three, McHenry outscored Belvidere North, 21-7, over the final eight minutes. Interrante was 8 of 13 from the free-throw line and made two 3s to go with her team-leading seven assists, finishing with a team-best 22 points.
Ashley Wachter had 12 points, two 3s and five assists for the Warriors (2-0), and Jamie Howie added 12 points and two 3s.
